Although some people like to come to the Gambia strictly for eductation, or even as a retreat, others like to volunteer in various positions around the country.
The most popular way to volunteer as a part of our program is with local schools. You can teach English, Math, and other subjects to children under the supervision of local teachers. This is not extremely time intensive, can be done close to home, and can be worked in with other lessons and programs you may be undertaking.
There are also many other NGO's in the country that you may be interested in working with, and if you let us know ahead of time we can make contacts for you and introduce you to organizations you may want to work with.
If you have specific skills you feel you can bring we can also discuss setting up workshops with locals. Although so far the school has mostly been to bring westerners to the Gambia to learn it's arts and culture, we also love to host people who can bring something new to the people of the Gambia.
